FFXI 12-12-12 Update Patch Please Read

NOTE: San d'oria requires the September patch instead of the 12-12-12 patch. also, it might just be a better choice overall.


The 12-12-12 patch

If this is your first time here and you have not installed FFXI yet, please go to the installation post.

The packets from FFXI's newest update on 12/12/12 broke our old setup, if you had previously followed the installation process just unzip this file into your FFXI directory and say yes to any overwrites:

Sept 30th Update:

This patch works. Anyone planning to start in Sandy will need this patch instead of the 12-12-12 patch. This might be a better option over all than the 12-12-12 pack as well. Found by Jeremy:

1. Let POL update your game all the way.
2. Septmeber Patch: www.mediafire.com/?p0hfcadtqilf03c
3. Extract all the files to your FFXI folder.
4. Say yes to any overwrites.

NOTE: The San d'oria is giving us problems. As far as I can tell the 12-12-12 patch works for every nation except San d'oria. You can try to install the July patch below for San d'oria but it breaks some of the previsouly working NPCs from the 12-12-12 patch. This is still a issue and I'm working on solving it with Jeremy's help.

The July patch

WARNING: I'm not sure WS and JA will work this the July update. I know San d'oria has problems though.

Alternative updater: Major July 2012 Update:

If some NPCs are not working, you may need to revert your files back even further, the July update was the last major update before 12-12-12.

1. Let POL update your game all the way.

3. Extract all the files to your FFXI folder.

The Client before 12-12-12

NOTE: The download for this is currently unavailable due to MediaFire restricitons.
"The file you attempted to download is an archive that is part of a set of archives. MediaFire does not support unlimited downloads of split archives and the limit for this file has been reached."

This has not been tried and I have not suggested it yet, due to very large file downloads, but here is the entire client before the 12-12-12 update, however you will need the file "patch.ver" from POL's latest update.

So, in order:

1. Fully update your client though POL.
2. Delete all files from the FFXI folder except patch.ver (sharing this file does not work, sorry, the update is required)
3. Move the patch.ver to a place you will remember, we will come back for it later (Don't put it in the same folder you will be using for step 5)
4. Download the entire client before the update: www.mediafire.com/?3u6rhjg1a4yh1
Password to open the files: DSProject
5. Extract those files to fresh folder, so they are the only ones in the folder.
6. Move the contents of that folder to your FFXI directory.
7. Move the patch.ver file to the ffxi folder.
8. Get one of the loaders, ffxi-boot or Ashita and follow the instructions for them on the main installation forum: mysticmines.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=setting&action=display&thread=110

That should work. It has been confirmed from a few sources.
